On Tuesday, September 19th we celebrated the Grand Opening of our Early Childhood Education Center in the Seminary Neighborhood of East Oakland. Our hearts are still soaring from the event – we cannot wait until the space is filled with new students and families later this year. Four years ago, when we learned we would lose our site in Alameda, it wasn’t clear we could continue our early childhood education work of providing youth career readiness skills and little ones with an opportunity to grow and learn in a caring, child-centered space. We are grateful to be here today with the support of so many community members moving this work forward with the next generation of Oakland youth.

A special thank you to Ryder Homes and Jay and Leslie Ryder, HomeAid of Northern California, Sunlight Giving, and Quest Foundation, as well as countless individual donors who supported this project. Finally, thank you to Alternatives in Action’s youth and staff, whose belief in the Early Childhood Education Center helped us persevere.

If you weren’t able to join us, you can read all about the event and center in a short excerpt shared by SFGate or read the full article by Oakland North.
