Alternatives in Action (AIA) creates innovative
experiences for diverse populations of children, youth and adults
that challenge them to become effective citizens who will have
a powerful impact on the world.
Alternatives in Action has three core programs:
1) HOME: an after-school and summer youth development program that offers 250 low income youth
per year, ages 12-19, opportunities to address institutional gaps in their communities through creating dynamic
community projects;
2) Bay Area School of Enterprise (BASE): a public charter high school for 110 youth that creates an
environment in which young people take ownership over their school and learning, and change their lives as they
change the community around them and
3) HOME Sweet HOME Preschool: a fully licensed preschool for over 20 families with children 2-5 years
old that promotes personal transformation through intergenerational work.
