Project YouthViewHistoryIn 2005, Alternatives in Action set out to capture the heartbeat of a generation. What better way to do this, then through the medium of film? That year, youth and adults partnered to create our first ever Bay Area Youth Film Festival. In the years since its inception, Project YouthView has helped over 75 youth planners learn real world skills while coordinating the event, showcased over 85 youth-created film shorts, highlighted the work of over 250 young filmmakers, featured eight powerful documentaries, and brought over 2500 youth and adults together to experience and discuss the power of youth. Through this event, youth have seized the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership, tell us their stories, share their creativity, and present their solutions to a captive audience. Project YouthView PartnersOver the years, Project YouthView has joined forces with collaborative partners such as co-presenting sponsors Comcast, our presenting sponsor since the event's inception, our newest major sponsor, HBO, the Alameda Theatre & Cineplex and the Alameda Unified School District. With their support, we’ve been able to expand our influence and create more opportunities for youth to be seen and heard. At a time when resources for education and youth programs are scarce, Project YouthView represents the best of what is possible when the city, school district, non-profit organizations like Alternatives in Action, and corporations like Comcast and HBO come together. Proceeds from Project YouthView benefit the multi-media programs of Alternatives in Action and enable Alternatives in Action to continue Project YouthView as a powerful venue for youth expression. We invite you to partner with us as we continue the legacy of engaging youth expression and leadership! |
