AIA's Moving!
A New Home at Woodstock Education Center

After eight years at our current location, AIA’s core programs, HOME Project, the Bay Area School of Enterprise and the HOME Sweet HOME Preschool are ready to grow. A new home at the Woodstock Education Center in West Alameda will enable AIA to better meet the needs of young people through expanded programming and partnerships with the Alameda Unified School District and the Alameda Boys and Girls Club.

Our new facility will include improved educational opportunities, as well as:

  • A multi-media production studio with state of the art sound and video recording equipment supporting the creation of social action CDs, public service announcements, film shorts and the Project YouthView film event.

  • An expanded transitions center that will provide internship placement, college and career counseling, vocational programs for course credit and access to the Stepping Stones Program, which enables students to attend community college while completing their high school diploma.

  • A multi-purpose performance space allowing us to engage more people in our candidates forums, youth presentations, hip hop forums and social enterprise events.

  • An expanded early childhood laboratory providing unique programs that train youth in early childhood education with hands-on experiences in our preschool. The laboratory will also pilot promising practices in partnership with the Alameda Unified Department of Special Education.

New Executive Director Selected!

After over 3 years in leadership of AIA, Executive Director Gail Greely is passing the torch. Patricia Macias Murillo, a former staff member and current manager with the Boys and Girls Club San Francisco has been chosen by the board to take on the position. Patricia will be embarking on her new journey with AIA on April 23rd. All of us at AIA give our thanks to Gail for her years of service to not only our organization but to the entire Alameda community. We wish her luck in her upcoming adventures while offering a warm welcome to our new Executive Director Patricia!
