HOME is an after-school service-learning and
summer youth development program that offers 400 low income
youth per year, ages 14 – 19, opportunities to address
institutional gaps in their communities through conducting needs
assessments, organizing their peers, and creating dynamic community
projects. Projects have included a campaign for nonviolence
through the arts; promoting health and nutrition through the
Young Women’s Fitness Challenge; launching a youth-run
sound recording studio; and organizing youth to address the
need for college preparation services for low-income young people.
