The Story of the Bay Area School of Enterprise
(BASE)
In February 2001, a group of ten youth know as the “Charter
Design Team,” from a youth community organization
called HOME Project, working in partnership with adult
experts, designed, wrote, and submitted the first ever
youth-initiated charter school petition in the country...more
Stepping Stone (special program within

Steppin’ Stone is a unique program that gives
youth ages 16 to 19 the skills, support and opportunities
to transition successfully from high school to college
